Crustless Quiche Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (or butter)
  • 1/2 medium onion, chopped (optional)
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped (optional)
  • 1/2 cup cooked ham, diced (or bacon, sausage, or turkey) (optional)
  • 1 1/2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, Swiss, or a blend)
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (optional, for a richer texture)
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch pie dish, quiche pan, or baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  2. Cook Vegetables and Meat:
    • In a medium skillet, heat the olive oil (or butter) over medium heat.
    • Add the chopped onion (if using) and sauté for about 3-4 minutes until softened.
    • Add the spinach and cook for another 1-2 minutes until it wilts. If you’re using meat like ham, bacon, or sausage, add it now and heat through.
    • Once everything is cooked, remove from heat and set aside.
  3. Prepare the Egg Mixture:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, heavy cream (if using), salt, pepper, garlic powder, thyme, and baking powder. Beat well to ensure everything is mixed thoroughly.
  4. Assemble the Quiche:
    • Spread the cooked vegetables and meat mixture evenly over the bottom of the prepared pie dish or quiche pan.
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top.
    • Pour the egg mixture over the top of the ingredients, making sure to distribute the eggs evenly. You can gently stir the mixture with a fork to make sure everything is well combined.
  5. Bake the Quiche:
    • Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the quiche is set in the center and lightly golden on top. You can check the quiche by inserting a knife or toothpick into the center — it should come out clean when done.
  6. Cool and Serve:
    • Let the quiche cool for about 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.
    • Serve warm or at room temperature. It’s delicious on its own or with a simple side salad.

Customization Ideas:

  • Vegetables: Feel free to add mushrooms, bell peppers, zucchini, or broccoli.
  • Cheese: You can use different types of cheese like feta, goat cheese, or Gruyère for a different flavor profile.
  • Herbs & Spices: Add fresh herbs like parsley, basil, or dill, or experiment with spices like paprika or cumin for a different twist.
  • Meat Substitutes: If you want a vegetarian quiche, you can leave out the meat and focus on the vegetables and cheese.

This crustless quiche is great for breakfast, brunch, lunch, or dinner. It’s easy to make, customizable, and perfect for meal prep! Enjoy!
